Beneficial Notes about Israa’ and Mi`raaj

False Statements

• Someone claimed that Angel Jibril left the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, at a spot in the sky and told him if you continue you will reach your destination but if I step forward I will be burnt. This is a false saying and is not a hadith.

• Someone said that the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, heard the voice of Abu Bakr in the sky to feel comfortable. This is a lie. Why would the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, feel lonely in such magnificent and honorable place? This is a false saying.

• Someone said that the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, went to meet Allah in the sky. This is complete misguidance as Allah exists without a place and is not a body to have a direction or location. The one who believes in that is not Muslim and has to utter the Two Testifications of Faith to return to Islam.

• Someone said that the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, said: AtTahiyyatu lillaahi wa salawaatu taybaatu, then Allah said: asSalamu `alayka ayuhan nabiyyu, etc. This is a fabrication and is not a valid hadith.

• Someone claimed that when the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, reached the `Arsh he wanted to take off his shoes and was then asked about that and said: My God I was afraid of the consequences of expulsion and the bitterness of rejection. This is a lie and the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, is not treated as such.

• Someone claimed that the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, saw Allah like light. This is false as Allah is not light or dark, tall or short, close or far, moving or at rest, coming or going. The Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, saw by his heart Allah the One who has no similar. Whatever you imagine in your mind Allah is different from that.

•. Someone claimed that Allah came close to the prophet, in the sky, which is false because Allah does not change, or move or come close by distance. It was Jibril who came close to the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, in the sky

Other Matters

• Iblis knew that he cannot misguide the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, but he tried to talk to him anyway. However, the strength and presence of the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, overcame him and prevented him.

• One may say that the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, entered Paradise but cannot say he entered Hellfire. One may say the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, looked at Hellfire and saw that most of its inhabitants are from women.  The Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, saw that most of the inhabitants of Paradise are the poor who are admitted to Paradise 500 years before the rich. He saw what Allah prepared in it to Umar, `Aaishah and others.

• When alBuraaq did not stand still for the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, to ride it, it was due to its yearning to the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, and not out of disobedience. It kept moving out of joy and flirting. Jibril brought this animal from Paradise and Prophet Ibrahim, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, used to ride it when he travelled from ashShaam to Makkah to visit his son Ismaa`eel and his mother Haajar.

• AlBuraaq puts its hooves at the end of his sight and his front legs extend when he flies and they shrink when he is about to land but the back ones extend.

• Jibril said to alBuraaq stay stand still no one most honorable then Muhammad has ridden you. (Muslim) This is a proof that the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, has the highest rank among Allah’s creation. Consequently, the Prophet’s nation is the best nation based on that high rank of the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam.

• The chest of the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, was cut open before this trip to become stronger and withstand the Journey. The age of the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, was 51 years and 7 months.
